Two cents from Bonnie
From what I’ve personally observed, successful efforts can be simple with short timelines. For example, making an equipment purchase—equipment that is sustainable to maintain. This is
a reimbursement grant, so recipients must invest upfront and then go through our reimbursement process by providing detailed receipts etc. on time.
Project Idea:
Members of the ACAC have been hoping a community member or group might step forward to purchase, store, maintain, and freely and easily lend out Access Trax <https://accesstraxsd.com/>
, which make outdoor events more accessible for people who have trouble navigating uneven terrain.
Message from the Washington State Employment Security Department’s Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues and Employment, Accessible Communities Subcommittee:
We are pleased to announce that we will be able to award $100,000 for this funding cycle!
Please understand that this is the amount to fund all ACAC projects in this fiscal year. While we will consider applications for up to $50,000, we appreciate smaller project proposals
allowing for more counties to have projects funded.
As always, this is a competitive process. Please remember, projects are identified by members of the disability community and are evaluated on the following criteria:
(1) How many people with disabilities benefit from the project?
(2) What is the depth of impact on people with disabilities? OR
(3) How extensively will persons with disabilities lives be improved? If so, how?
The project application forms and instructions are attached. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks.
Elaine
