A bill moving through Congress would remove gray wolves from the endangered species list. <http://image.emails.sierraclub.org/lib/fe8f1372746d007871/m/22/1a6411f1-d430-4730-a89c-6df5a08e58b0.png> Hi John, I want to make sure you saw my email from earlier today about an awful bill moving forward in Congress, the so-called "Pet and Livestock Protection Act." The vote is set for Thursday -- so please reach out to your US Representative before then! You can send them a message online <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=49a971b9d5fd1af314660436d9da9e8c2af4198804bf5a3839c0bdbfe3d01 10ff4bc873e81ccc6c86c3397c04b4eee99070fba4b874a7b97539869468999b860> or dial 866-583-9742 to hear a quick recording and be connected via phone. I also wanted to clarify that although my original email incorrectly listed your state-level representative, the linked alert is actually sending messages to your Member of Congress. So don't worry, if you sent a message already it went to the right place! Thank you again for your dedication to protecting wildlife, Ben Greuel (he/him) National Wildlife Campaign Manager Sierra Club <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=49a971b9d5fd1af322f9392533db59f33c510bb2bd3b2f21be82182291d54efbddc0113f6223f415cd25893392ec3a2b3c21391514b1b04f14b41a1697329204> Dear John, Congress is going to vote this week on a bill that would strip federal protections from gray wolves in the Continental United States. The bill, introduced by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO 4th District), is one of the biggest threats to wolves right now and would have long-term consequences for gray wolf recovery. This is a big deal. Not only would this bill put a vulnerable species at risk, it would set a dangerous precedent for removing federal species protections. We can't let this happen. Take action today by sending a message to your US Representative and asking them to vote NO on the deceptively named "Pet and Livestock Protection Act." Send a message to your representative asking them to vote NO today! <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=49a971b9d5fd1af383dc29f5e7405a38f572064a8ec57f4f47bbcc9a30795f14d6a5eb7630763041b6e93e5b5ee83d4 981cf4c1629763e89cf3b932a0716e743> Send Your Message to Congress <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=49a971b9d5fd1af328d031b1b6a09e3c421dd381caf65c4f4845bdef66dc00aa16d7050637798cc0ac03cbc2e72c392f970072b05dfb017cf71092aadad34d8c> At the end of his first term, the Trump administration issued a hasty rule to remove gray wolves from the endangered species list. Thankfully that rule was overturned by a federal judge in 2022, but now the attacks are starting again. This bill by Rep. Boebert would reinstate that same rule that was already deemed "unlawful," stripping gray wolves of federal protections and leaving it up to the states to decide how to manage this species. Why do we need to make sure gray wolves are protected under the Endangered Species Act? Because despite their importance, many of the states where they are found would rather kill wolves than protect them. States like Idaho have passed local laws that would allow unethical and unnecessary killing of wolves if they are not protected at the federal level. In Wyoming, Brian Nesvik (Trump's US Fish and Wildlife Service Director) oversaw the mass killing of wolves by any means -- including running them over with vehicles, torture and trapping them. That is why we need to keep federal protections in place. Please take a moment to send a message to your representative asking them to vote NO on this awful bill. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=49a971b9d5fd1af3fce332e3c1e2a3d39e937e076321538e2e2fa2 5298dd67ffa7e3146cda14c4132da696d11e0e8e2407921783555d5f86014844cf222b3c8a> Thank you for all you do for wildlife and the planet, Ben Greuel (he/him) National Wildlife Campaign Manager Sierra Club <http://image.emails.sierraclub.org/lib/fe8f1372746d007871/m/1/d022e60a-7074-47af-be72-d54eaf076d10.png> DONATE <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=49a971b9d5fd1af382ae96d05d5c9dcea0297d4eb06b7ddabe62578dbcceda3bdc47d5b2d8337d16c8ce86e141323b3ca9b33f78a27cfd8082271e1601ca11fc> Please consider making a donation to support the Sierra Club's vital work.
