The soil in the proposed drainfield was verified to be Type 6 soil overlying Type 1 soil. Sand is proposed to bridge through the Type 6 soil and into the Type 1 soil. A Site Risk Survey (SRS) was received from ADC Wastewater Engineering on May 15, 2025. Information provided in the SRS may identify potential health and environmental impacts resulting from the LOSS. The SRS indicated the proposed project site required a Level 1 Nitrate Balance. DOH uses the Level 1 Nitrate Balance as a screening tool to identify LOSS which may have potential impacts on unconfined or semi-confined aquifers. Results of the nitrate balance calculated a potential nitrogen level of 1.99 mg/l at the point of compliance based on a preliminary effluent strength of 60 mg/l. The soil verification and environmental review for this LOSS is complete and we have determined the proposed project is feasible with an understanding of waste strength treatment level B with no nutrient reduction requirement. Sand will be required to bridge into the Type 1 soil in accordance with WAC 246-272B-06700. This correspondence is your notification of approval to proceed to engineering.
