As you may have seen in rider alerts this afternoon, we still have three vessels out for emergency repairs and four other vessels are out for planned maintenance, leaving the system
with only 14 of our 21 boats for service. Tomorrow, we anticipate reduced service to continue on the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth (Triangle), Seattle/Bremerton, and Seattle/Bainbridge
routes and the Mukilteo/Clinton route will see a slight down-sizing.
With Kittitas and Chetzemoka expected to be cleared to return to service tomorrow, we will begin a series of vessel moves that will have impacts across the system:
Clinton/Mukilteo
* Tuesday January 6th the 90-vehicle Sealth will replace the 124-vehicle Kitsap
Triangle
* Tuesday, Jan. 6 Kittitas will replace Sealth
* The Triangle will continue two-boat service on the two-boat schedule
* As soon as Wednesday, Jan. 7, the Salish will be added as an unscheduled “bonus” boat on the route (once Chetzemoka returns to the Point Defiance/Tahlequah route)
Seattle/Bainbridge
* The route will be on one boat service for the majority of Tuesday, Jan. 6
* Two-boat service will be restored with the arrival of Kitsap (likely Tuesday afternoon), although having the smaller 124-car vessel may still lead to some delays
Seattle-/Bremerton
* The route will remain on one-boat service for at least one more week

Good afternoon Ferry Legislators,
Due to recent unplanned vessel outages, Fauntleroy- Vashon- Southworth, Seattle- Bremerton, and Seattle- Bainbridge routes will all be operating at reduced service levels Monday January
5th:
* The Triangle will be operating on two- boat service and two- boat schedule
* Seattle- Bainbridge and Seattle- Bremerton will each be operating with one vessel.
Over the last few days, 3 vessels have experienced unexpected issues, leaving us with only 14 vessels to provide service with a winter schedule that requires at least 17.
January 1st: 52-year-old Walla Walla had a blade on its propeller shear off causing the vessel to be removed from service on the Seattle- Bremerton route. The vessel is planned for emergency
drydocking at Everett ship repair this week but will be out of service for a few weeks.
January 2nd: 45-year-old Kittitas was pulled from service on the Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth route due to an oil seal leak on the propulsion system reduction gear that caused the propulsion
shaft to fail. Repairs are in progress and expected to be completed later this week.
January 3rd: 29- year-old Tacoma was removed from service due to high shaft bearing temperatures. An assessment is underway of the issues, but the vessel will be out for at least a
couple weeks for repair.
Be advised that any additional unplanned vessel outages could have service impacts across other routes. Our teams will be meeting to look at further service options tomorrow afternoon,
and I will keep you updated with any changes.
We understand these reductions have impacts to your constituents and communities, and our teams are working diligently to get vessels back in service.
