Local Agency Agreement with Wash. State Dept. of Transportation
For: Queets Bridge Painting, Bridge No. 8W, Clearwater Road MP 0.60, Project No.
CR1881
Statement of Issue: A Resolution is necessary to add this project to the officially adopted annual
road program. A Project Prospectus and Local Agency Agreement are necessary in order to
authorize federal funding for the Queets Bridge Painting project.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: Through the process of routine bridge inspections, it was
determined that the Queets Bridge is in need of repainting. The Queets Bridge, spanning the
Queets River in west Jefferson County, is the county's longest bridge at 844 ft. This project will
consist of repainting the steel girders and bracing members. Work will include abrasive blasting,
treatment of pack rust, containment of wastes, and repainting with a primer and top coat paint
system. Public Works applied in 2010 to the Federal Highways Bridge Program and was awarded
100% funding for this project.
FiscallmpactlCost Benefit Analysis: The total project cost is estimated at $2,969,652, and is
funded at 100% by the Federal Highway Administration
Recommendation: The Board is requested to sign three documents:
. Resolution to Create County Project -- 1 original
. Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus - 3 originals
. Local Agency Agreement - 3 originals
