The Quilcene Community Center is all about COMMUNITY. Everyone is welcome, from little kids at game night, to high school friends challenging each other at D&D, to fitness and yoga
enthusiasts, crafters sharing their creations, and open community meetings hosted by local government agencies, the QCC is where it happens in Quilcene. Special events like Sunday
morning pancake breakfasts and holiday celebrations ,add to the daily, weekly and monthly calendar of opportunities for Quilcene citizens. Importantly, manager Rich Fitzgerald’s commitment,
creativity and dedication are acknowledged to be the reasons for the Community Center’s wide-ranging appeal.
l’m writing to assure County elected and appointed officials that the current atmosphere, management and operation of our community center is just right for this community. The QCC is
literally the only non-commercial space in Quilcene where residents can gather, learn about and access the services they need, spend casual time with friends, connect to the internet,
read in a comfortable environment, participate in guided exercise classes, and always feel welcome. Participation in the QCC’s broad array of activities is available to all, either
at no charge or for a minimal fee to cover instructor costs.
We are aware that the County is soon going to be studying contract proposals that will deeply affect the communities of Quilcene, Brinnon and Tri-Area. It’s important for decision-makers
to note that very few Quilcene families have the wherewithal to pay the full costs of the services available at the QCC. Without the financial underpinnings of County government, combined
with generous volunteer time and effort and the imaginative leadership we now enjoy, our “community center” would no longer serve all in our community.
I encourage you to make the right decision: name OlyCAP your contractual partner to maintain the benefits available to all Quilcene residents.
