Friends, neighbors -
For most of last week I was in Washington, D.C. for major votes on the annual government funding package (tl;dr I voted NO) and important hearings to hold lawless ICE and CBP agents
accountable. Each and every day, I worked to bring the voices from our community to the halls of Congress. On Friday, I was back in the better Washington to stand in solidarity with
advocates and neighbors for a vigil at the Tacoma NW ICE Detention Center. More on that below.
So much happened - here's your 6 for the 6th:

Vigil at the Northwest ICE Detention Center:
* On Friday, in partnership with OneAmerica and elected officials from Pierce County, I cohosted a vigil outside the Tacoma NW ICE Detention Center.
* We stood shoulder to shoulder – electeds, community members, and advocates – to mourn those who have lost their lives at the hands of DHS agents. We honored Renee Good and Alex Pretti,
and the dozens of people who have died in ICE custody.
* Right before the vigil, I was illegally denied entry into the facility – despite having been admitted five times before. This is a direct violation of the Appropriations statute and
my right and responsibility to conduct Congressional Oversight. I won’t stop fighting to hold ICE and GEO accountable.
* We can’t keep operating like this. The Department of Homeland Security has completely lost the trust of the American people. We need major reforms. Now.
<https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/customers/WA06ER/2.png>
DHS Funding Update:
* Last week, I voted NO on the two-week extension to fund DHS while the final annual funding bill is negotiated.
* While the Continuing Resolution is better than a year-long appropriations bill with no accountability for a department that is executing citizens in the streets and terrorizing our
communities, it’s still two more weeks of unimpeded violence.
* I voted NO on this funding deal because DHS doesn’t deserve another dollar of taxpayer money as long as lawless agents – led by Secretary Noem, Stephen Miller, Tom Homan, Greg Bovino,
and the President – are violating our constitutional rights.
* I will continue fighting for accountability, real oversight, and to bring an end to the violence this lawless department is unleashing in our streets.

Testifying Before the Rules Committee – DHS Amendments:
* Last Monday, I testified <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14376.5975513.5303608.7318396&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2fwww.facebook.com%2freel%2f124260691
4490892%2f&redir_log=505834765429278> at the House Rules Committee to propose four amendments to the DHS funding package to demand accountability and protect our communities. All four
were rejected by House Republicans:
* An amendment to reduce Customs and Border Patrol Commander at Large Greg Bovino’s salary to $1.
* An amendment to condition ICE funding on upholding Tribal sovereignty — requiring notification before entering Tribal lands and reaffirming that Tribal members are American citizens.
* An amendment to include my Emergency Responder Protection Act <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14376.5975513.5303608.7318396&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%
2frandall.house.gov%2fmedia%2fpress-releases%2fcongresswoman-randall-introduces-legislation-protect-emergency-responders&redir_log=82469143415859> to ensure immigration enforcement
cannot interfere with firefighters and emergency crews responding to disasters.
* An amendment to require the release of all frozen FEMA BRIC grant funds so communities — including those in WA-06 — can access the disaster resilience resources they were promised.

Exposing ICE’s Horrific and Violent Tactics:
* Last Tuesday, I joined Senators in their chamber, along with Democratic colleagues from the Oversight committee, to hear directly from people who have personally experienced DHS’s
horrific and violent tactics. Watch more HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14376.5975513.5303608.7318396&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2fwww.facebook.co
m%2freel%2f1975603263390135&redir_log=00456200278274> .
* We heard from Renee Nicole Good’s family, and we heard from U.S. citizens who were shot multiple times, dragged out of their cars. They were left with terrible injuries.
* This has to stop. There must be true accountability for lawless agencies that continue to terrorize our communities.
<https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/customers/WA06ER/5.png>
Sec. Noem Has to Go:
* Last Wednesday, I joined members of the Democratic Caucus outside DHS headquarters in D.C. to demand accountability and an end to the violence carried out in our communities under
the guise of immigration enforcement.
* Kristi Noem makes us all less safe. Less safe to exercise our First and Second Amendment rights, and less safe from illegal search and seizure under our Fourth Amendment right.
* If she isn’t fired – House Democrats will bring our articles of impeachment to remove her from office for a full vote of the House. Watch more HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTr

Calling out DHS on the House Floor:
* Last week, I spoke on the floor about the violence we’ve seen from out-of-control ICE agents — shooting people, tearing individuals from their homes, and illegally detaining people
because of the color of their skin. This is fascism, pure and simple.
* Tribal members are being told to carry their Tribal IDs because they are being racially profiled, and our immigrant neighbors are being dehumanized and terrorized in their own communities.
* DHS is not above the law — and neither is Secretary Noem. That’s why I voted against funding these lawless operations and will continue fighting to hold this administration accountable.
* Watch my full speech HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14376.5975513.5303608.7318396&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2fwww.facebook.com%2freel%2f14288820
