HomeMy WebLinkAbout020926 email - Contract to operate the Quilcene Community CenterALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them.
I am writing you to emphasize how vital our Quilcene Community Center is to our diverse rural village. The partnership you, the County, has had with OlyCap and the Center has thrived
over the years and continues to expand.
Richard Fitzgerald says often that his role as Center manager is his job of a lifetime, which he proves daily with his creativity and commitment to helping every single local person
and group. You have no doubt noticed how many new programs, classes, events, etc. he has initiated. We got lucky with Richard.
To cite my letter of last October 10, the Center's stated aim is to "create an inclusive, safe space for everyone in our community . . . and to serve the diverse needs of our community
members." OlyCap, the Center's director, works "to create a better tomorrow through essential services like housing resources, food security, and early childhood education." Why the
North Hood Canal Chamber of Commerce, whose mission is to work "toward promotion and preservation of a healthy business community," would feel qualified or willing to run such a complex
nonprofit community service that is the Center is perplexing indeed.
PLEASE, please vote to preserve our beloved Community Center, its multitude services, and its leader Richard by selecting OlyCap as its director.
Thank you sincerely,
Anne Ricker, member, Quilcene Community Center Advisory Committee
