One takeaway was that small but significant actions, taken from where we each stand, can collectively drive meaningful systems change. Session highlights and a suggested advocacy action are below. Start anywhere and loop back as you learn. * Members named where they “live” most (e.g., Inquire, Empathize, Prototype, Try) in their community and program work. * Who’s Missing from PECC conversations? * Identified gaps: low‑income parents/caregivers, home‑based providers, early educators (for all ages), housing partners, health/mental health and nutrition, and agencies like DCYF. * Question: How do we involve these perspectives in ways that work for them (e.g., going where parents already are, not just inviting them to midday Zooms)? * How can we connect PECC members? * Suggested channels: in‑person gatherings, public listening sessions, email updates/newsletters, selective use of social media, and a hub‑and‑spoke approach where members act as connectors to broader networks. Taking Small but Significant Action In yesterday's call we heard important questions about how to create systems change, within our roles and in the structures around us. We discussed the power of identifying small, significant actions. One small but significant action you can take this week is to contact your legislators. Sharing your voice matters. We've been advised that messages sent this week (by Friday) have the greatest chance of being reviewed during this legislative session. Legislative emails can be brief and in your own words. For early learning messages: Governor Ferguson proposed that nearly 40% of this year’s needed budget cuts come from early learning. This comes after early learning experienced $1 billion in cuts last year. Many of you have expressed deep concern about what further early learning reductions would mean for families, providers, and communities in both the short and long-term. We understand the budget constraints facing lawmakers. However, many of us see that early learning is not a discretionary expense. Early learning is economic infrastructure. Cutting early learning will increase costs for families, employers, and the state. Washington cannot afford to weaken the foundation that supports working families, local economies, and long-term cost savings. We encourage you to share: * Why early learning matters in your community, for children, families, and our economy * How early learning supports the broader workforce and our economy * The true costs of reducing access for families, in the short and long term (which can include workforce reductions, a greater reliance on a variety of social safety net programs, and greater costs to restart programs down the road) * Any data or real stories you have that illustrate the benefit, especially connected to cost savings and financial returns. Key legislators to contact include: * Your district representatives and senator * Senate Ways & Means Committee Chair and leaders * House Appropriations Committee Chair and leaders Key legislator names and email addresses <https://sdb5cbdbb.cc.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001au3ioqXU1FKLI28luFYxaR0xeW_T-Wq5HxuZmjmRZWy8_zc1xeUzbU_6C2Df_YvJZ4Ggu4InsNGNWykE_9yWShE8AMvGbXyZIipqhpTUJxtPYp9JZ3Gy FmPPwqMr1-RMvTdKK8MgQ50gFX7C9N1TwBylMO5hApYV4qiebO1FX4w8pVxJFT5Jq3LkFloK-hlAtzPBV6267q0Rss_5VPg9tg==&c=BcuA9LY68VbElMgjZwLLRMVBzVkJm2EyXoz5sVnCCF7JBXW2gVAryQ==&ch=SNVmkVFUHK7vuD8DcksaGrdTXFK2he9EhEuO _aneJIwV9sDbhqhc2A==> Even a quick, short message helps.
