But a girl’s got to follow her passion and it turns out it wasn’t Croatia. She next moved back to California and helped some tech “bros” launch their startup. Somehow she visited Port Townsend and decided it was her dream town. Most people would try to find a job. But Lori decided on a different path. Her shop “Chums” is barely a year old now. She’s still refining her concept. Her location draws both the boat crowd and the RVers. In addition to the normal supplies and lots of beer, wine, soft drinks and ice cream, she loves to feature local artists. Come spring, her outdoor patio is the planned center for mini gatherings. CATS IN OUR LAPS with host Phil Andrus Sunday 7-10pm Cats in Our Laps is a radio variety show in the tradition of the early days of radio when radio was a local resource for live music, community news, and neighborhood gathering. Each Cats in Our Laps features live and recorded music, either in the KPTZ studio or from the world ‘round via Zoom, as well as interviews, poems read by Cats Poet Laureate Deborah Kate Hammond, and the week’s weather forecast with Cats Weather Laureate Al Latham. Keeping the Cats in line, in laps or not, is host Phil Andrus. February 15 Tina Lear is at the reader’s podium, which, for Tina, is also her music stand. At the conductor’s podium is Tigran Arakelyn to chat about Port Townsend Symphony Orchestra’s February 22 concert. At 8:00 Danish fiddler Christian Bugge brings the traditional music of Scandinavia via Zoom from Copenhagen, in anticipation of his upcoming concert with Ruthie Dornfeld on March 12 at the Quimper Grange. February 22 Deborah Kate Hammond reads prose, not poetry, on this night while Bill Mawhinney is Poet Laureate Pro Tem. Lee-Allison Sibley tells of her life on the international music stage which on February 26 will be Trinity United Methodist Church, the Candlelight Concert. At 8:00 the night’s Featured Artists performing live in 305 are saxophonist Jonathan Doyle and pianist Conor Forsyth and, to cap off the show, Ruby Fitch spins her discs as guest DJ to take us to 10:00.
