HomeMy WebLinkAbout021726 email - Solid Waste Advisory Committee AppointmentALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. I have sent the following to all commissioners individually in case any one commissioner would like to engage. Thank you for taking the time today to have a thoughtful discussion regarding the Solid Waste Advisory Committee appointment. I have a deep appreciation for open communication. It is not my intent to have caustic interactions and I would be happy to apologize to anyone that has been offended. I do understand the importance of civil discourse. I have started attending SWAC meetings in person since applying. I have used my three minutes during the public comment period to address items on the top of my list and quietly sit back even if comments are ineffectual while the meeting proceeds. I am hoping this is a sufficient example of what working in the same room looks like. Progress and productivity will not come to a halt. I am sure you are all familiar with the hint of antagonistic feelings that creeps up towards those who make public comments especially when critical of multiyear efforts or passion projects. It is my belief that this has played a role here. I have no interest in derailing the system. My intent is to bring down the barriers to communication. It is my hope that by being part of the conversation, productivity and understanding will increase with results better reflecting the public sentiment. With the significant upcoming changes, I think it made sense to do what was discussed during the last SWAC meeting, appointing Mr. Walter-Hansen to represent the agriculture community (replacing Sierra Young?) and additionally appoint me to represent District 3 and for the committee to use the tools available to it if things don't "fit". I would like to continue to make myself available to anyone willing to reach out (This includes SWAC members). Regards, Jim Friedman 813-810-4012
