Dear BOCC,
I am writing to ask you to reconsider the siting of a new transfer station near SR19 and SR104. Given that people coming from PT will need to drive 34 miles round trip (and 26 from Hadlock),
this does not seem like a very environmentally sustainable plan. Not only will a great deal of fossil fuel be burned getting us and our trash there, but you also risk folks just dumping
their garbage in the woods because they won’t want to drive so far.
It’s not clear (enough) currently why you decided not build the new facility at the current site. Is there not enough space there? To some, it looks (from maps) that there is (see the
post and comments on NextDoor).
