It has come to my attention the there may be a push to ban consumer fireworks in Jefferson county. I'd like to go on record saying I do not support the ban. I am sick and tired of
government trying to tell people what to do. If instead you wanted to come up with a way to impose fines on people that, when lighting fireworks irresponsibly when it is a danger (when
temperature and humidity and lack of rain is such that it factually shows it drastically reduces what is required to start a catastrophic fire), it causes damages.
Lighting fireworks is a form of expression and banning it is an infringement on free speech.
Please stop looking towards "banning things" as a solution.
