Hi,
In response to the possible closure of the Port Townsend Rec Center or HJ Carroll Park or Memorial Field due to lack of funding. I have to ask why am I even asking this?! I should not
have to! Nor should any of the other local families have to be asking this question. Why, why when push comes to shove, why is it the kids that have to pay for it?!
I am born and raised in this town. Chose to raise my children in this town. It breaks my heart that our leaders are choosing to take away our only local outlets for sports, celebrations
and other meaningful activities. Why is this the only way?! Have any other possible solutions even been considered or is it just too convenient to throw these programs aside?! Who cares
about our run down rec center, our soccer field, our stadium? Well I sure do! My children do! My family does! And so does yours! You just aren’t listening!
I’m angry.
We need to do more to protect our youth
Our precious programs that help so many.
Soccer, Futsal, Basketball, Baseball,
Birthday parties, sewing clubs, preschools.
These are only few of the beautiful activities offered through our rec center and local fields. Please, please don’t take these away!
