The SSG Fox SPGP uses non-clinical, peer-led, and non-traditional approaches to engage and serve eligible Veterans – especially those not yet connected with VA – in under resourced areas with high-risk populations. Veteran suicide risk is reduced through linkage to VA and grantee services that improve mental health status, well-being, financial stability, and social support. Who can apply? This grant is designed for organizations that work closely with local Veterans and have the capacity to deliver and coordinate suicide prevention services in their communities. Existing SSG Fox SPGP grantees must submit a renewal application. Eligible organizations with experience providing suicide prevention services to Veterans may apply for up to $750,000 in funding as new applicants. Interested organizations are strongly encouraged to review the NOFO and related technical assistance materials in their entirety before applying. Eligible applicants include: * Incorporated nonprofit organizations and nonprofit-controlled entities * State or local governments * Federally recognized Tribes * Other community-based organizations with demonstrated capacity to serve Veterans and their families Organizations selected for funding must be able to: * Reach and support local Veterans and service members who may be at risk of suicide * Provide services such as mental health screenings, case management, peer support, and crisis response * Coordinate referrals with local VA facilities and community service partners * Track services and report program data to VA Important Dates * Application deadline: 4:59 p.m. ET on June 12, 2026 * Award notifications: Sept. 30, 2026 * Grant period: Federal Fiscal Year 2027 Program Impact Since launching in 2022, the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program has awarded $210 million to 111 organizations across 46 states, U.S. territories, and Tribal lands, expanding access to Veteran suicide prevention services in communities nationwide. More than 90 percent of participants who complete SSG Fox SPGP services report improvements in one or more of the following areas: suicidal ideation, overall wellbeing, mental health status, perceived social support, and financial stability; helping to strengthen protective factors and reduce drivers of suicide risk. Application Support VA makes technical assistance available to all potential applicants through a recorded webinar, application guides, and responses to public inbox inquiries.
