SUBJECT: Grant Awarded - NEHA-FDA Retail Flexible Funding Model Grant Program;
4/1/2026-3/31/2027; $5,000.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Jefferson County Public Health, Environmental Health Division, requests Board approval for use of awarded
grant funds from National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) – Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Retail Flexible Funding Model (RFFM) Grant Program for food safety projects; April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027;
total of $5,000.
ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO’S and CON’S:
RFFM Grant No. G-202601-07788 (the grant) provides $5,000 to Jefferson County’s Food Safety Program to
improve standardization of food safety inspections via configuration and implementation of digital food safety
inspections within the Enterprise Permitting and Licensing (EPL) database. Funds will be used for database
configuration and creation of custom database reports that adhere to Washington State Department of
Health’s requirements for food safety inspections. The April 1, 2026 award letter contains a requirement to
comply with conditions of the grant.
FISCAL IMPACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
This grant is fully funded by the FDA; no match is required.
RECOMMENDATION:
JCPH management requests approval of a motion to authorize the acceptance of the use of funds from the
grant from National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) – Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Retail
Flexible Funding Model (RFFM) Grant Program for food safety projects; April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027; total
of $5,000. The motion should direct staff to comply with all the conditions and requirements of the April 1,
2026 award letter.
