We are not repairing the old system, we are installing a completely new system. I applied for a building permit and wrote the check just prior to things falling apart for us on this side of the water. I had thought I would have the septic system in by now. I would like to withdraw our building permit application at this time. I would request an extension of our septic permit so that we can install it next year in the summer when the weather is dry. We would not apply for any other permit until we have met health dept standards for the septic system. We are eager to make this right. The money we get from the uncashed building permit check will be able to go towards the septic installation. This would require you to install the new septic system proposed and get it finaled before the building permit can proceed. From your e-mail to me on the status of the septic installation, you have indicated that you will not be installing until next year. The building permit must wait until then. Pertinent sections of code are: JCC 8.15.080 ON-SITE SEWAGE SYSTEM PERMIT (1) Repair permit. Repair permits shall expire ninety (90) days from the date of issue. Repair permits may be renewed for an additional ninety (90) days if the Health Officer determines it is warranted.
