HomeMy WebLinkAbout041026 email - Please keep PROTECTION ISLAND as a FEDERAL wildlife refuge!ALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. We are AGAINST the proposed transfer of the Protection Island federal wildlife refuge land to any separate Sovereign Entity. Please STOP the Land Transfer Act of 2026 to transfer Protection Island to the Bureau of Indian Affairs/Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, ensuring this refuge remain public, protected, and accessible to all. Eleanor Stopps, Zella Schultz, Audubon members, environmental groups, and many local residents led a nine-year effort resulting in Congress making Protection Island a national wildlife refuge and seabird sanctuary in 1982. Protection Island is one of the most important seabird breeding sites in the Puget Sound for seabirds such as rhinoceros auklets, tufted puffins, pigeon guillemots, glaucous-winged gulls, and also harbor seals. Thank you for your consideration, Donna Armstrong
