HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-08-2026 PC Meeting MinutesPLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES JEFFERSON COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION Regular Meeting – April 8th, 2026 Jefferson Transit Center 63 Four Corners Road, Port Townsend, WA 98368 CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL: Chair Koan called the meeting to order at 05:31 p.m. Kevin Coker Present Matt Sircely Present Sunny Allen Present Virtually Cynthia Koan Present LD Richert Present Chris Llewellyn Present Devin Gonzalez Excused Absence Michael Shultz Present Andrew Schwartz Present APPROVAL AND ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA: Chair Koan asked the commissioners if there were any objections to adoption of the agenda as written. No objections were made. The agenda was approved by unanimous consent. APPROVAL OF 03/25/2026 MINUTES: Chair Koan requested a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Coker moved to approve the minutes with a second from Commissioner Llewellyn. Chair Koan called for “yes” votes by a show of hands. All commissioners voted in favor with one abstention from Commissioner Sircely as he was not present at the 03/25/2026 meeting. GENERAL UPDATES PLANNING COMMISSION UPDATES: 1. Doodle Poll Update – Chair Koan reminds commissioners to please respond to the Doodle Poll promptly so retreat plans can begin. 2. Chair Koan shared an update that Jefferson County PUD will be providing sewer tours every Wednesday in April at 02:00 p.m. DCD STAFF UPDATES: 1. Update on Cottage Kitchens provided by Tonya Flores Cruz – PC Clerk 2. Joel Peterson shared that the name plates have been procured. 3. Joel Peterson shared an update on outreach both on the website and in the paper. The public will have one month to review the Comprehensive Plan and provide commentary with the hearing date falling on May 13th, 2026. Planning Commission briefiy reviewed all elements of the Comprehensive Plan. a) Commissioner Sircely and Jeremy Williammee provided suggested edits and will share them with Joel Peterson. 2. Time did not allow for a review of the proposed Unifled Development Code amendments. PUBLIC COMMENT 1. Jean Ball – Quilcene – shared that the table label “Parks and Recreation” is unclear as it sounds like that parks and recreation county organization. 2. Shellie Yarnell – Brinnon – Shared that she is dismayed that we are fllling in boxes with inaccurate information. Shared that this comprehensive plan is not a fair representation of what will be done in the next 10 years. She is concerned about the waste of money on consulting on this project. NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT: Chair Koan adjourned the meeting at 07:46 p.m. until the next regular meeting or special meeting as properly noticed. The next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled April 22nd at 5:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Transit Center. These meeting minutes were approved this ___________ day of _______________ 2026.
