That's why it's so alarming that the Trump administration is cutting backroom deals with fossil fuel billionaires instead of investing in solutions that will help lower our energy bills.
In March, officials announced a nearly $1 billion agreement with TotalEnergies to cancel offshore wind projects off the coasts of North Carolina and New York -- projects that would
have delivered affordable, clean power -- in exchange for expanding methane gas exports in Texas. And just this week, two more buy-outs were announced - deals that lock us into higher
bills and more pollution, while putting taxpayers on the hook.
Trump is setting yet another dangerous precedent. If more companies walk away from their clean energy projects, it will stall progress, kill jobs, and drive energy prices even higher
for families like yours -- especially as the growth of data centers drives more energy demand. These aren't just policy decisions -- they are choices that take affordable, reliable
energy off the table for millions of families.
But here's the truth: clean energy is still winning.
Offshore wind projects are already delivering reliable power to the grid, proving that solutions are available now. In courtrooms across the country, judges are pushing back on unlawful
attacks against clean energy, allowing projects to move forward and workers to get back on the job. Now, it's time for Congress to step in.
