RE: Port Townsend Foundry LLC, Evergreen Manufacturing Grant—Letter of Support
As members of the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners, we are writing in support of
grant funding for Port Townsend Foundry LLC.
Port Townsend Foundry LLC has been in business for over 40 years as a quality manufacturer of
marine, architectural and industrial castings that are utilized locally, regionally, nationally and
internationally.
Their current facility was built in 1978 and was then occupied by the Northwest School of Wooden
Boatbuilding from 1982 to 2004. The roof is now in need of replacement and electrical upgrades
are needed to power up manufacturing equipment. These improvements to the facility would
enhance opportunities to support expanded job growth and production, which are much needed in
our rural community's economy. Economic multiplier principles suggest that with the addition or
maintenance of each manufacturing job, up to 3 additional jobs can be created or sustained within
our community, building a strong and resilient economy.
The Port Townsend Foundry LLC is a legacy business that has continued to train the next
generation of manufacturing trades professionals. We ask that you consider lending your support to
help strengthen the continued growth and welfare of our rural Jefferson County economy and
community.
Sincerely,
III
