It's 2050… what do you see? I see an affordable future for my twin boys. I see electrical grids powered by clean energy -- solar, wind, water. I see advances in technology that prioritize
everyday people, whether we're Black, White, Latino, Asian, or Indigenous, over the profits of a few greedy CEOs.
I see resilient communities that can withstand a changing climate because we passed laws holding Big Oil & Gas accountable for the extreme weather and climate damages they caused.
But that's not our reality right now. Your electricity bill is 31% higher than it was five years ago, according to the Climate & Community Institute. Your food is more expensive. Your
insurance is going up. These are the real costs of climate change, and YOU are paying them while fossil fuel corporations get richer.1
Now, Big Oil & Gas, along with the politicians in their pocket, are scheming up a new way to rig the system in their favor. Senator Ted Cruz (TX) and Rep. Harriett Hageman (WY) introduced
a bill as part of an escalating campaign to block efforts to hold the industry accountable, granting them total legal immunity from being held responsible for the floods, fires, and
droughts that their products have caused.

Fossil fuel companies knew in the 1970s that burning oil and gas would create enough carbon pollution to cause extreme weather like this. They predicted with surprising accuracy the
impacts we're feeling now.
While they continue to rake in billions of dollars in profits, we're left to clean up the mess and pay the price. We need to hold polluters accountable -- it's just fair.
Here's another way to think about it: Imagine Big Oil & Gas is your neighbor. They knew when you'd be gone and plotted to set your house on fire. It burned down. Now they've made a deal
with the police to avoid any responsibility. To top it off, they've told the courts you're not even allowed to sue them. You'd call that ridiculous and corrupt!
Well, that's total legal immunity for you.
They are cheating the system, and it's making it more expensive for you and your loved ones to get by.
But here's what they don't want you to know. Even under the Trump administration, Canary Media reported that renewable energy made up 92% of all new U.S. power plant construction in
2025.2 The clean energy future is already here. Big Oil wants immunity before it's too late for them.
More climate disasters mean greater economic instability. A fossil-fuel-dependent future blocks the clean, affordable solutions like solar and wind that are already winning.
We must stop them from getting immunity from Congress, and that starts with you.
