Currently, Congress is considering legislation to significantly weaken TSCA, the nation’s primary law regulating toxic chemicals. These changes could limit the federal government’s ability
to protect communities from dangerous substances such as highly-dangerous PFAS forever chemicals, asbestos, and flame retardants, restrict state authority to act, and reduce transparency
and accountability for chemical manufacturers.
Rolling back TSCA's safeguards would effectively let chemical companies decide how much they pollute our people, land, waters, and air.
At a time when communities across the country are facing increasing exposure to harmful chemicals linked to cancer and serious diseases, weakening TSCA would put our nation’s health,
safety, and prosperity at even greater risk.
It’s critical for public health and our environment that the rules keeping polluters accountable in TSCA through the EPA remain in place. Environmental justice communities will be at
risk the most if these protections are taken away.
