Special Meeting – Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
Jefferson County Library – 620 Cedar Ave, Port Hadlock, WA 98339

CALL TO ORDER: Chair Taggart called the meeting to order on time.
PUBLIC COMMENTS – ALL TOPICS: No comments were received.
APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES of Special Meeting Minutes of May 12, 2026: Minutes approval will be postponed to our next special meeting because not everyone got a chance to review them.
CONTINUED DISCUSSION re: Meeting schedule, locations and publication: We will continue to have meetings at Hadlock library for special meetings with approved schedule.
DISCUSSION re: Report on Beaver Management possibilities: Commissioner Taggart reviews beaver relocation program with personnel permitted to do so in Kitsap County. Also discussed beaver
notching and prevention.
DISCUSSION re: Report on outreach efforts by commissioners: Commissioner Boggs reached out to landowners talk about conservation district funding for creek work. Commissioner Taggart
also reached out to landowners within the district via email.
REVIEW re: Review of new grant process with Sierra of Jefferson County Conservation District (JCCD): Sierra shared grant permit compliance agreement for landowners for our review also
discussed making it accessible online.
DISCUSSION re: Report on State Auditor’s Office (SAO) account registration: Chair Taggart is working on becoming an auditor and spoke about getting a po box to receive documentation.
DISCUSSION re: Election planning—do we qualify to run our own elections: Reviewed requirements regarding number of voters to meet election requirements for election feasibility. Also
reviewed election rules and regulations.
DISCUSSION re: Budget preliminaries: Jefferson County Commissioner Heidi Eisenhour found our existing budget balance and discussed current and futures expenses to get started with district
outreach.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS and CLOSING REMARKS: Mapping and property easements have been requested along with google drive availability to share documents and deciding fiscal year for Chimacum
drainage district.
NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT: Chair Taggart adjourned the meeting at 6:27 p.m. until the next regular meeting or special meeting as properly noticed.
