I plan to give oral testimony tomorrow, but I am requesting that the
Board remove the Protection Island land transfer letter of support from the consent agenda. I support extending the joint management agreement in place today. It is working well, and
allows "public lands to remain in public hands" while respecting and providing for the tribal indigenous knowledge to be folded into future planning. Honor the legacy of enviromental
hero Eleanor Stopps and preserve the public's oversight of this island that was only established as a National Wildlife Refuge after a hard-fought grassroots citizen campaign to Congress.
The entire congressional delegation supported the bill.
Thank you,
