Volunteers are available to work with you on your plant and landscape questions. If you bring a plant sample, be sure it clearly shows the difference between unhealthy and healthy tissue. Pick a fresh plant specimen, put the cut end of the stem in a moist paper towel. For insect samples, bring the insect intact in a small container soon after capture. We can usually identify to insect family or genus. If you have a plant identification question, bring a sample or picture that includes leaves, branches, stems, a portion of the fruiting or flowering structure (if available), and a picture of the stem or bark. Wear sturdy shoes/boots and note that the walks average three to four hours, walking about 1.5 miles. Wear layered clothing for changeable weather. Bring binoculars and water if desired. Bad weather can result in cancellations. The following two outings are free of charge: Anderson Lake every third Saturday, through Admiralty Audubon, and Fort Flagler every fourth Saturday, through Friends of Fort Flagler. Fort Townsend and Fort Worden are the other two State Parks where Beverly can arrange to schedule a special bird walk for you.
