Hello Jefferson County Comissioners,
I visit Jefferson County every year with my family because we love the beautiful ecosystems and abundant wildlife, something that our home in Los Angeles just doesn’t have in the same
abundance. When I heard that management of Protection Island might be closed to public input, I became deeply concerned.
I urge you to maintain the existing successful joint management agreement between the US Dept of Fish and Wildlife and the Jamestown S’Kallam that allows for continued public ownership
and input. It’s important to me that the birds and wildlife always come first. Tribal traditions can be honored and upheld without relinquishing management of this island for the good
of all who care about it including local residents, human and other-than-human, and visitors as well. Keep Protection Island in Public Hands!
