Dear Board of County Commissioners,
Please accept our written testimony below for your public hearing on June 15, 2026 regarding a fireworks ban in Jefferson County.
My husband and I support a total ban on all fireworks in our county.
In our family, we have 2 active firefighters and one retired nurse from the Burn Unit at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma. We have seen first hand the harm that fireworks can cause.
Fireworks are dangerous to people, pets, and wildlife. They pollute the air and leave garbage on the ground and on our beaches. They are loud and stress inducing. They have no place
in our beautiful Jefferson County.
It is time to stop allowing the discharge of any fireworks in our county.
