Jefferson County is proud to partner with The Production Alliance to present Preparedness Day on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 10 AM to 4 PM at Finnriver Farm & Cidery (124 Center Road,
Chimacum). This free, family-friendly event is open to all residents and is designed to build a more resilient community through fun, education, and hands-on emergency preparedness
training. New for 2026, the event will start at 10 AM for workshops and activities in the field— and features a keynote workshop from environmental activist Robin Greenfield on his
Year of Foraging.
In Jefferson County, we know that true preparedness goes beyond stockpiling supplies—it’s about building relationships, sharing knowledge, and strengthening community ties. Preparedness
Day brings together local emergency services, nonprofits, neighborhood groups, and educators to provide valuable training, tools, and information that empower residents to be ready
for anything.
What’s Happening on Preparedness Day?
Workshops & Simulation
* Hands-on field training sessions
* Deep-dive workshops on pressing emergency preparedness topics
* A town-hall-style emergency simulation developed with regional response agencies
* A discussion with Robin Greenfield on embodying reciprocity with nature, embracing community, and insights and practical knowledge related to natural resources
Community Booths & Activities
* Partner organizations across emergency response, recovery, and community resilience
* All organized neighborhood groups gathered in one shared booth — easy to find your neighbor
* Resource booths covering food and water security, animal evacuation, mental health, accessibility, solar and backup power, and more
Resilience Games & Family Fun
* Various family-friendly field games including Tug-of-War with a $1,000 prize
* Free strawberry shortcake provided by Jefferson Healthcare
