Residents have a responsibility to understand their role in preventing the ignition of wildfires and the steps to take in case of wildfire evacuations. Attendees will also learn how EJFR will respond to a wildfire and learn more about the Home Wildfire Assessment program which provides homeowners with specific recommendations to prevent wildfires from becoming structure fires. 11:00 Scenario @ Pavillion WILDFIRE! Our Community Conversation Learn the roles and challenges of our local responders. Bring your questions about the response process and ask about your role. 11:00 Solar and Storage for Power During an Emergency, Spinning Your Meter Backwards All Year Long (hosted by Power Trip) @ Haybarn Rooftop residential solar has made sense for decades, and recent advances in lithium batteries and energy storage systems have made whole house backup with clean renewable energy a realistic option for the average homeowner. Learn about current micro-grid technology from Power Trip Energy's Andy Cochrane, who has been installing solar on the Olympic Peninsula since 2003. 12:00 How Neighborhoods Come Together to Prepare for Emergencies (hosted by NPREP) @ Haybarn Hear from a variety of community members who are actively working with neighbors to prepare for emergencies. Each one will briefly describe their neighborhood - location, size and stage of development and a key tip or two - before opening it up to a robust question and answer session. (this needs more wordsmithing, but hopefully this gives you an idea) 1:30 Robin Greenfield's Earth Provides Us with Everything We Need The Earth can provide us with everything we need. Robin Greenfield believes this with all his heart and is putting this love and devotion for Earth into bold action. For one year he is foraging every bite of his food and medicine. "Nature" is his garden, his pantry and his pharmacy. To bring this message to the people, he is traveling to communities throughout the country. He will embody a relationship of reciprocity with Earth during his community visits, bringing a spotlight to the food and medicine that is growing freely and abundantly all around us.
