I am grateful for the work that the Tribe has done as co-managers with Fish and Wildlife. Nothing precludes them from continuing this great work. I totally support their expansion of
tribal lands by purchasing private land. But…
Q. I have read the one draft of the bill you are wanting to be passed in Congress. What wording in the proposed legislation guarantees that the beaches that feed the birds remain pristine
and never turned into a monoculture aquaculture farm? What would legally keep some future Tribal Council from deciding to harvest shellfish from the beaches of the Island once it becomes
tribal land?
