Sharon Lavigne is a 70-year-old special education teacher and grandmother who has spent her whole life in St. James, Louisiana. She's watched her hometown transform from lush, productive
farmland into one of the most polluted places in the country, now known as "Cancer Alley," as the cancer rates are 40x higher than the rest of the country. When another massive petrochemical
plant is announced for St. James, Sharon begins to organize.
Follow Sharon and her daughter, Sharmyra, as they wrestle with faith, grief, and fierce determination to reclaim their community's future.
