Greetings Households and/or Business Owners in the San Juan Avenue area,
You are receiving this project notification letter as a property and/or business owner within close
proximity of the project area for upcoming road work. Please read this letter carefully as it contains
pertinent information about the project and potential impacts associated with construction activities.
Please share this letter with anyone you know who may be interested. Visit the 2026 Streets Projects
webpage for updates, as timelines may shift with weather and holiday schedules.

Project Overview:
The City of Port Townsend has contracted with Nordland Construction NW for roadway rehabilitation
work on San Juan Avenue between Lopez Avenue and 49th Street.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of July 13th and is anticipated to be complete
by July 21st 2026.This project includes roadway rehabilitation work to reconstruct San Juan Avenue in
preparation for County chip seal scheduled for July 21st-July 29th
Work is anticipated to occur Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Traffic Impacts:
During construction, San Juan Avenue will be closed to through-traffic within the work area.
Temporary lane closures, short delays, construction equipment, and signed detours should be expected.
Local access will be maintained for residents, driveways, emergency services, deliveries, mail,
garbage/recycling collection, and other service providers. Residents who live within the work area will
still be able to reach their homes, but access routes may change depending on where the contractor is
working that day.
At times, access may be limited to one direction,temporarily controlled by flaggers, or delayed briefly

while construction equipment is working directly in front of a driveway or side street. Crews will
reopen access as soon as it is safe to do so. Please follow posted signs and directions from flaggers or
construction personnel.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
The intersection of Admiralty Avenue and San Juan Avenue will remain open during construction for
traffic crossing San Juan Avenue and for access to the Fairgrounds and 49th Street. Local access north
of Admiralty Avenue may use San Juan Avenue to 49th Street, or 47th Street/Haines Street/49th Street,
depending on the active phase of work and posted traffic control.
Please avoid parking within posted work areas during construction hours so the contractor can
complete the work safely and efficiently.
Detour:
Through traffic should avoid San Juan Avenue between Lopez Avenue and 47th Street during the work
period and use alternate routes. Detour routes will be clearly signed in advance of the closure. See
attached Traffic Control Plan for more information.
