KPTZ Spotlight
Remembering Colin Foden
Colin was one of a core group of four founders who collaborated beginning in 2009 to start KPTZ, and he was, in many ways, the glue that held the station together in the early years.
Colin served many years as the first Board President and was the long time host of KPTZ Goes to the Opera, which aired Sunday mornings for almost fifteen years.
Colin also enjoyed a 'dry english wit' and was a fan of Monty Python, so between that and Colin's love of opera, we can see he appreciated the finer things!
He will be deeply missed by those of us who worked under his leadership, and valued his friendship.

July 7+8— Maryanne interviews Barb Trailer who runs the annual Wooden Boat Festival. This is Festival #49 and —according to Barb—it’s bigger and better than ever. Roughly 26,000 people
show up annually. The biggest problem is that there’s nowhere for that many people to overnight in PT. It’s not just about fabulous wooden boats anymore. Kids can build their own mini
boats and ride a wooden carousel. Ten stages run simultaneously with lectures and demonstrations. Community participation is high with over 600 volunteers making all run smoothly. Barb’s
the creative force and mastermind behind it all.
Concerts in the Woods
KPTZ is delighted to sponsor the 2026 season of Concerts in the Woods!
Fourteen miles out on the end of the beautiful Toandos Peninsula sits the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center operated by the Jefferson County Parks & Recreation District and the citizens
of the Toandos Peninsula. This facility offers a lovely community room with seating for 50+, a fireplace, and a full-service kitchen. The Toandos Peninsula is frequently called the
“Coyle Peninsula” because the community of Coyle is located at the tip and occasionally it is called the “Dabob Peninsula” because it separates Dabob Bay from the rest of the Hood Canal.
And it is also affectionately called “the end of the earth” by some of the residents who live way out here. There are no services here in the woods: no gas station, no restaurant, and
no market, so come prepared. Whichever name you want to use, it’s the perfect place to hear an intimate concert in a beautiful room “at the end of the earth.”
All shows run from 3 - 5 p.m.

Heard Wednesdays from 4 to 5pm and repeating Saturdays at 1pm, I play music from multiple genres and generations. Music that moves me to dance, cry, laugh, think, get goosebumps, reminisce,
or to join in with harmony.
Born to a burlesque performer, I grew up around musicians, dancers, comediennes, and have, since I can remember, been performing or writing for the stage, singing in clubs in the mid-and
northwest. The best day of my life? When I met The Beatles. I wasn’t born in Port Townsend, but I got here as fast as I could.
