Friends, Neighbors ~
Good news! Two weeks ago, Republicans and Democrats actually agreed on something and passed a massive bipartisan housing bill to lower costs and help address the housing crisis facing
all of our communities! The bad news…Trump refused to sign the bill, calling it, “a big yawn,” and said he won’t sign the bill – or any bill – until Congress passes his massive voter
suppression bill, the “SAVE Act.”🙄. This is what governing looks like under a Republican supermajority with Trump in the White House, even with all the power, Republicans continue
to fail to make meaningful change – all because they won’t stand up to Trump. More on that below ⬇️
Here’s your 6 for the 6th:

Standing up for Disability Rights ✊
* Trump’s Department of Justice recently released a memo giving states the right to throw out guidance established by Olmstead v. L.C. 27 years ago, this SCOTUS decision affirmed the
right for people with disabilities to live in community just like everyone else, to not be institutionalized in order to receive care.
* Growing up with a sister with complex disabilities, I know how important it was to Olivia and our family that she was able to get health care and to go to school in our community,
just like other kids.
* This is just another example of Trump and his cronies attacking our neighbors with disabilities – this memo being driven by none other than Stephen Miller <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iq

* It’s not surprising from this Administration. But I know what my neighbors and I believe: people with disabilities deserve community, dignity, autonomy, and respect. Hear more HERE

4 Years Since Roe v. Wade Was Overturned💔
* June 24th marked the four year anniversary since Roe v. Wade was overturned and millions of Americans lost access to life-saving reproductive health care.
* 4 years later, 20 states have active abortion bans, OB-GYNs are leaving southern states in droves out of fear they could be prosecuted for saving someone’s life, people are traveling
hundreds of miles to blue states like Washington to seek care, and folks are dying from septic, non-viable pregnancies because they can’t get the care they need.
* When Trump was first elected in 2016, I was working at Planned Parenthood and knew that Republican extremists were not only coming for abortion rights, they also want to take away
access to preventative health screenings, birth control, and our bodily autonomy. That’s why I’m in politics today.
* I will do everything in my power at the federal level to protect your rights to abortion care. Watch my remarks HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14414.6

Not so MAHA Administration🧑⚕️
* Senate and House Oversight members held a hearing featuring former CDC directors and vaccine experts (and Mark Ruffalo!) on the impacts of this Administration’s “Make America Healthy
Again” movement. Thanks to Secretary Kennedy and MAHA’s false promises, childhood vaccination rates are still down in WA State, leaving MORE communities vulnerable to outbreaks of preventative
illnesses like measles.
* Secretary Kennedy and the Trump Administration are making children and families sicker by gutting funding for health research, taking away health coverage from 15 million Americans,
DOGEing public health agencies, and undermining vaccine science.
* This administration is undermining public health every chance they get. Last year, the Trump administration cancelled $160 million <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06E
R&crop=14414.6352865.5395805.7707228&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2fwashingtonstatestandard.com%2f2025%2f03%2f27%2f160m-in-wa-health-funding-axed-by-trump-administration-cuts%2f&redir_log=58275982
9746732> for WA State to monitor outbreaks, disease reporting systems, and vaccine related research. This doesn’t make Americans healthier.
* I’ll keep asking the tough questions and fighting to make sure we never go back to a time when people died from preventable illnesses because they couldn't access the care they needed.
Every person deserves access to quality health care and accurate information so they can make the best decisions for themselves and their families. Watch my remarks HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov

Trump Cancels Bi-Partisan Housing Bill🏚️
* Democrats and Republicans found something to agree on — a bipartisan Housing bill to help lower costs that passed through the House and Senate — and Trump killed it.
* The 21st Century Road to Housing Act would make homes more affordable, ban private equity firms from buying up single family homes, and make it easier to build the housing supply we
need.
* But Trump has said he won't sign this bill — or any bill — until Congress passes the SAVE Act, legislation that would make it harder for millions of eligible U.S. citizens to vote.
* Trump ran on reducing costs – yet when Congress sends a widely-popular bipartisan bill to his desk, he throws a temper tantrum and refuses to sign it into law. Make it make sense.

Protecting our National Parks 🌲
* On Wednesday, I attended a Natural Resources hearing to hear more about the Great American Outdoors Act 250. This bill is exactly the kind of work the American people sent us here
to do — investing in the maintenance of our National parks, supporting outdoor recreation access, and expanding opportunities for public-private partnerships.
* However, the bill establishes a $100-per-person fee for foreign visitors who want to explore National Parks, creating more barriers for folks to visit our incredible parks. The Olympic
Peninsula is already seeing the impact of reduced Canadian tourism under this Administration, and our rural communities that depend on tourism can’t take another hit.
* While Great American Outdoors Act investments in deferred maintenance and preservation are important, Congress must ensure communities near our National Parks can continue welcoming
visitors — and the economic benefits they bring to places in my district, like Forks, Washington.
* I’m proud of the bipartisan work of the Natural Resources Committee to move this effort forward. And while this is an important step, there’s more work ahead to ensure Americans can
continue enjoying our nation’s great outdoors. Watch my thoughts HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14414.6352865.5395805.7707228&report_id=&redirect=https

The Navy 🤝 The Suquamish Tribe
* On June 27th an historic, first of its kind Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) the first of its kind was signed by the Suquamish Tribe and the U.S. Navy.
* This MOU sets a new standard for how the U.S. Military collaborates with Tribal governments to respect Tribal sovereignty and to preserve treaty rights.
* The Suquamish tribe has stewarded the lands and waters of the Salish Sea, or the Puget Sound, since time immemorial, and have been gracious neighbors to PSNS-IMF. The shared waterway
includes tribal fishing grounds and shellfish beds, and this MOU will compensate the tribal members for the access that will be impacted during the construction of the Navy's proposed
multi mission dry dock project.
* I spoke on the House Floor to commend the Suquamish Tribe and the Navy for their years of leadership and perseverance in reaching this historic agreement. Watch my speech HERE <https://iqconnect.ho
