Fenley 110 F Street Port Townsend, WA 98368 Re: Accounting Jefferson County Department of Public Works COURTHOUSE PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON 98368 TEL. (206)3853505 GARY A. ROWE, DIRECTOR Last week you applied for the position of traffic sign technician and in the interview I had with you on Tuesday of this week you indicated you wanted to make a change to a position out of accounting since you have gotten tired of working with numbers. I can appreciate your feelings. Since I cannot offer you another position at this time I am concerned about your performance as accountant for the department. On February 7th I talked to you about the problems with accounting and layed out a schedule for finalizing 1985 by February 15th and for setting up general ledger by March 1st. I also wanted the DOT and CRAB reports finished by March 15th so we could get the information to the county auditor's office by April 1st. To this date none of the items have been completed. Indeed it has been difficult to finalize 1985 because of problems that have accumulated throughout last year. I feel, though, that it has been your responsibility to make sure work was done correctly. The position of accountant is a critical position in the department. I don't feel that you have a commitment to the position especially since you have applied for other positions and have indicated you are burned out on accounting. Since the accounting position is such an important position I feel compelled to warn you that your performance has not been acceptable. While you do seem to try to do your ,job, the work has not been completed as outlined on February 7th. y?'p5tY t"T4 ??{N" Y ? This work will have to be done by April 1st. I also want the general ledger set up by April 15th. As I suggested before, the State Auditor's Office can provide technical assistance. If you feel that this schedule cannot be met please let me know why and what you feel would be better. If the continued level of work continues I will have no choice but to look for another accountant. Your responce is appreciated. Sincerely, 41?47 a. .u, 'r Gary A. Rowe, `. Director cc.
