Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. To the commissioners, I was extremely grateful to hear the public comments given by Gordon King Monday morning. The long-term historical picture is important to reflect on. The notion that the Jamestown S'Klallam are not "the public," when they are the people of a sovereign nation is insulting. As Emily Randall advised us at her recent town hall, legislation takes a long time to get to the point of being passed. It seems right to me that if there are questions about what might change under the new arrangement, now is the time to reach out to our Representative's office. It may be that the proposed bill can be modified to address the issues. I have been disappointed in the racist thinking I see in some of the comments made about the proposal. People of the dominant culture are all too often unaware of the racist assumptions underlying their thinking. I don't except myself from that. Deborah Pedersen Port Townsend
