Reminder: Submit your proposal for the District Energy Campus Upgrades Committee Facilitator RFP
Commerce is accepting proposals from nonprofit organizations to support the District Energy Campus Upgrades Committee. Established by the 2026 supplemental capital budget (SSB 6003),
the committee helps drive data-driven, cost-effective investments to decarbonize state district energy systems, improve the energy efficiency of state-owned buildings and identify opportunities
for state agencies to advance decarbonization projects within existing budget constraints.
The selected nonprofit will facilitate committee meetings, prepare a report that prioritizes capital projects for state campuses and analyze barriers that make it difficult for state
agencies to use energy-as-a-service models and public-private partnerships.

Clean Buildings compliance success story: Neil Walter Company
This week's CBPS Success Story comes from Melissa Broom, Property Management Director at the Neil Walter Company in Tacoma.
Melissa shares with us that Neil Walter Company has met CBPS compliance for two of their buildings so far, with more in progress. Most of their buildings are Tier 1 buildings, so this
process has really been about getting a better handle on how each building is currently using energy. Pulling that data together and reviewing it has given them a clearer picture of
performance and where there’s room to improve.
Since most of their portfolio are Tier 1 buildings, Melissa said the focus was mainly on benchmarking and understanding energy use patterns. “It has been a helpful starting point and
sets us up well for the future.”
They plan to use the Early Adopter Incentive program for their Tier 2 buildings in hopes that it will help support additional energy projects across our portfolio.
“Overall, CBPS has been a good learning opportunity.” Melissa mentioned.
The Neil Walter Company recognized the importance of building a strong team to successfully meet their CBPS compliance and worked with Macdonald Miller. They appreciated how responsive,
knowledgeable, and highly supportive the team was throughout every stage of this process! “We truly couldn’t have achieved these results without that partnership.” Melissa said
