Best Wishes to the Truck Driver’s Daughter as She Drives Away from PT
Every machine needs a mechanic.
Karen Anderson has been the mechanic who kept the KPTZ programming machine alive and kicking. As the station’s Log Builder (the log is all the programs we air daily and weekly), she
helped train new DJ’s, expand programming, shuffled schedules for DJs on holiday, and a million other details that are unnoticed but essential in keeping the station relevant to those
on the north Olympic Peninsula.
And, as if she didn’t have enough to do in her station role, Karen was also the host of The Road, with the handle DJ Karen, the Truck Driver’s Daughter, a country and country adjacent
show airing on Thursdays.
We wish Karen the best of luck in the new chapter of her life on the mainland and deeply appreciate the contributions she made on both sides of the microphone during her tenue at KPTZ.

Bash, the Neighbors’ annual fundraiser. Featured artists are Matt Sircely and Katy Lichtenstein, aka Sircely and Katy Jean, two fine voices with mandolin and guitar. Live in Building

The July 26 Cats in Our Laps finds Deborah Kate Hammond again at the reader’s podium but Bill Mawhinney as Poet Laureate Pro Tem. Touring singer and songwriter Aaron English is the featured
artist, live in our studio, with a selection of his original songs. In the 9:00 hour Colleen Johnson makes her annual visit to Cats in Our Laps to present the program for the group
she directs, the Summertime Singers, a Port Townsend summertime regular.
Free Friday Concerts
at Centrum
Join us at Noon for a free concert on the lawn of the Nora Porter Commons at Fort Worden! Coffee, food, and drink is available at the Fort Coffee Shop or our mobile coffee wagon.
While admission is free, state park Discover Pass is required to park anywhere at Fort Worden State Park. A day pass is $10 at the kiosks or at the Parks office in Building 202, or annual
passes are also available.

All concerts are held in the barn with speakers outside for lawn listeners. The Farm opens at noon each concert day. Barn doors open at 1:00 p.m., concerts begin at 2:00.

KPTZ co-presents the genre-bending folk band The Librarians for a special "Still Here" Album Release Party in July. The performance will take place at Rainshadow Recording Studio (Building
315) at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 7:30 PM
And KPTZ is delighted to join Finnriver Farm & Cidery in announcing the first ever Orchard Concert in their new event space among the fruit trees, on Sunday, July 26 at 7pm.
This show will feature the Jefferson County Boys – a three piece acoustic classic bluegrass band from the Port Hadlock area. This show will be outside in the field, or under a tent in
the event of inclement weather.
