ROAD CREW LABORER
NATURE OF WORK:
This work involves a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks
in the maintenance of roads and other related facilities in the
county.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Patching roads: hauling, loading, raking, shoveling patching
materials.
- Clean culverts, catch basins and other related facilities.
- Paint structures, and other facilities.
- Sweep and clean roads of debris.
- Control brush manually and with equipment.
- Clean and care for tools and equipment as assigned.
- Set out and take down work zone traffic control devices such as
barricades, cones, signs and flashing lights.
- Drive pick-up truck for flagging and pilot car.
- Flag for maintenance operations.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
Road construction materials and equipment.
- Methods employed in basic laboring and maintenance work,
- Safety precautions used in construction work.
- Basic first aid.
Ability to:
- Understand oral and written instructions.
- Perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and
maintenance of roads and related facilities.
- Operate a variety of road maintenance equipment.
- Perform heavy physical labor in all types of weather and
working conditions.
- Communicate effectively with the public.
