Concerts in the Woods
Laurel B. Johnson Community Center
923 Hazel Point Road
Coyle, WA 98376.
Saturday, Aug. 1st at 3 p.m.
Folk/Americana Singer/Songwriters Jaspar Lepak and Avery Hill team up outdoors in Coyle. Jaspar's music is shaped by the places she has called home—Tucson, Seattle, Durban, and Minneapolis.
Known for her clear, pure voice and deep attention to the natural world, her songs are bravely honest, tender, and sometimes playfully defiant.
Avery's music is known for her thoughtful lyrics, intricate melodies, and her warm, engaging presence. Her songs reflect on everyday humanity, finding remarkable insight in the simplest
of stories. On stage, she sings these stories with a voice that is at once both wise and curious, and with a musical style both pleasant and intriguing to the ear.

A Journey Along the
Silk Road
Tuesdays at 5:15 Fridays at 12:15
with Bill Porter
Episode 134: August 4 & 7
We’re in Xinjiang Province, far
above the people’s end of
Heaven Lake. It took us 2 1/2 hours to
get here on horseback, and we were in no hurry to leave these beautiful
meadows and mountain streams. On the way back there was some kind of
quiet competition between our
mounts. They were amazing horses for whom the word stumble didn’t exist!
Episode 135:August 11 & 14
Our Kazakh hosts have just woken us up, fired up our stove, and brought
us some fresh mare’s milk. We walked outside and watched the morning
mist lift its veil from the lake. We asked our hosts why no one was fishing,
and they told us that visitors were not allowed to catch fish because the
lake has been designated a wildlife preserve.
