Hello, Commissioners Eisenhour and Dudley-Nollette:
Thank you both for your serious consideration of the myriad of issues that would be involved in a land transfer of any part of the Washington Maritime U.S. Fish and Wildlife Refuge Unit,
of which Protection Island NWR and Dungeness NWR are a vital part. Robin Ornelas informed me that that letter from the BOCC regarding Protection Isl
and and Dungeness proposed land transfer will be on the agenda for the BOCC next week. How soon will we be able to see a draft of the letter? On behalf of our community coalition (which
we are busy organizing) we would like to extend an offer to circumnavigate the island with our knowlegeable biologists. Twice monthly we are doing seabird feeding surveys around the
Island, out to feeding areas in the outer shallow banks, and in the vicinity of Smith Island as well. This is the literal heart of the Salish Sea, and the health of the entire ecoregion
is tied to this area. Attaching some recent photos:
Thank you
