Friends, Neighbors ~
The final week before the August district work period is always a busy one, but this past week was especially full. From voting NO on the National Defense Authorization Act to pressing
FEMA about delayed funding and demanding accountability from those connected to Jeffrey Epstein, I stayed focused on fighting for transparency, public safety, and the needs of our communities.
I'll keep showing up and working every day to protect our neighbors and make sure our government is accountable to the people it serves.
Here’s your 6 for the 6th: <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/customers/WA06ER/IMG_2470.jpeg>

FEMA Delayed Funding for the North Shore Levee BRIC Grant… AGAIN🌊
* Last week, I sent a letter to Acting Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Robert Fenton, demanding answers about delays in funding for the Aberdeen-Hoquiam
Flood Protection Project.
* This week, FEMA Region 10 approved the request for $34.64 million.
* It is equally concerning to see a new report that shows that FEMA – under the direction of DHS – is diverting emergency funding for immigration enforcement. This is unacceptable.
* This community has waited long enough. I will keep fighting until the funds are released and the North Shore Levee project is completed. See the full story HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextra

I Voted ‘NO’ on the anti-LGBTQIA+ NDAA 🏳️🌈
* The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed through the House last week. As someone who represents so many military families, voting NO is not something I was excited about.
* I worked hard to include important priorities for WA State, like infrastructure improvements, wages and benefits support, AND my bill to open up funding for Tribal Nations that neighbor
military bases.
* Some of my Republican colleagues added harmful amendments that continue to attack LGBTQ+ individuals. I want to be clear: these amendments do absolutely nothing to strengthen our military
readiness or improve the lives of everyday Americans.
* This bill also authorized over a trillion dollars for Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth to continue their pointless war in Iran while families are struggling to afford groceries, housing,
and healthcare.
* I couldn’t vote for this bill. It gives Trump and Hegseth unchecked power and continues Republicans’ attacks on trans kids and families — and it simply does not meet the needs of our
communities.
* I look forward to a day when Republicans in Congress drop this bizarre and personal vendetta against queer and trans people and get back to working on real issues that help to make
America the country we know it can be. See my thoughts HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14342.6399675.5411205.7318396&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2fw

Oversight Democrats Questioned Epstein’s Personal Banker
* I attended a transcribed interview with Jes Staley, a former JP Morgan Executive and Jeffrey Epstein’s private banker, as part of the Oversight Democrat’s ongoing investigation into
Epstein and his horrific ring of sex trafficking and abuse.
* It was disappointing to hear yet another man lie about his complicity and involvement in the assault and mistreatment of women who were trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein.
* Remember: Republicans are refusing to hold actual Oversight Committee hearings, meaning witnesses don’t have to testify under oath, and we don’t have subpoena authority. When Oversight
Democrats have the gavels, we will hold these people accountable.
* Americans deserve better. Survivors deserve better. We all deserve a legal system that doesn’t continue to protect men in power on the backs and bodies of women.
* We won’t stop fighting for justice for all survivors and for the American people. See more HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14342.6399675.5411205.731839

* We need experienced, qualified leadership overseeing these critical systems to safeguard privacy, prevent fraud, and maintain the public’s trust.
* You don’t put the people who endangered Americans’ privacy in charge of protecting it. Well… unless you’re Donald Trump. I’ll keep working to hold this administration accountable and
protect our communities from data breaches and fraud. See my remarks HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14342.6399675.5411205.7318396&report_id=&redirect=h

Wildfire Season is Upon Us🌲
* Folks, it’s wildfire season. Washingtonians know how quickly these fires can change lives. I remember my visit to the Bear Gulch Fire last year, where I saw firsthand the devastation
left behind after months of burning.
* And thanks to Trump and Elon Musk, the U.S. Forest Service lost 6,000 employees from DOGE cuts and other factors last year.
* In June, I grilled U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz on the Trump administration’s decision to close 57 out of 77 U.S. Forest Service Research labs, including two in Washington
state. Read more on that HERE <https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&cid=WA06ER&crop=14342.6399675.5411205.7318396&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2fwww.thedailyworld.com%2f2026%2f

* Across the 6th district, many communities have burn bans or fire restrictions in place. Before you head outdoors or light a campfire, check your local restrictions and follow updates
from the Washington Department of Natural Resources and your county’s emergency management office.

Updates from our Intern!
Our district intern, and lifelong Kitsap resident, Aiyana, had the chance to join me on the road during the last district work period. We asked her to share what she learned! Hear from
her below:
* District Work Period was a whirlwind of learning to say the least. From meeting with Chambers of Commerce in Port Angeles, oyster farmers, and conservation groups, to seeing federal–state
restoration collaboration in Duckabush, the range of topics we covered even in a day was incredible.
* The district team’s understanding of every issue helped me appreciate how complex and thoughtful this work truly is. It was inspiring to see how much care goes into making sure every
person we meet with feels heard, and how comfortably the team navigates federal, state, and local agencies to get actual work done. And watching how knowledgeable Congresswoman Randall
is felt like being with a human political encyclopedia!
* I also got to experience the different duties of the office. With our District Press Secretary, I helped take photos, record videos, and prepare for a KOMO 4 News interview showing
the work being done for Washington’s 6th. I also learned how our Field Representatives connect constituents to resources across nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies to foster
productive relationships. And I saw firsthand how conversations with constituents help the office understand how policies affect real people.
* In just a week, I got to see the inner workings of a congressional office. The work here is a mile wide, and never an inch deep. Every issue is considered with care, and every constituent’s
concern matters. It’s a week I won’t forget anytime soon.
