Right now, many roads are getting fixed and two State Parks are getting repaired. While roads may open and close, the two State Parks are closed for the summer. If you're traveling here to spend time on the Olympic Discovery Trail this summer, be aware of the following construction zones and closures. We've included links for staying up to date on the very latest. Washington Department of Transportation - WSDOT - has an entire page devoted to the Olympic Peninsula. If you're traveling without a car from SeaTac, this app is super helpful. Washington State Parks * Anderson Lake State Park <https://us.list-manage.com/1676hoDh0hd?e=2f0c4aec92&c2id=ebbcd8894b61aa69ea96671b6daeab4c> - Completely closed from July 15, 2026 until September 30, 2026 * Sequim Bay State Park <https://us.list-manage.com/NNGWjPArJvE?e=2f0c4aec92&c2id=ebbcd8894b61aa69ea96671b6daeab4c> - Completely closed this summer until September 15, 2026. The ODT is open through the state park. See image below. We are still waiting for the new sections to be completed and officially open. The ribbon cutting event will be scheduled as soon as the trail passes final inspection. Stay tuned! In Jefferson County, the Milo Curry trailhead to Anderson Lake State Park has not been opened for use. Signs, fencing, and notices have been removed by vandals. Jefferson County has had to replace fencing and notices multiple times. It is not safe to be on these trails. There are several safety items that will be installed this summer. The section through Anderson Lake State Park (see note above about the closure) is scheduled for construction later this month and is not expected to be available for use until September. The work includes paving the entrance road, ADA parking, new restrooms, equestrian area improvements, and the new extension of the Olympic Discovery Trail. The ribbon cutting is tentatively scheduled for September and you will definitely be invited! Wendy is the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Transportation Program Manager. She will give a presentation on the three active ODT projects: Dungeness River Bridge (Howe Truss), Carlsborg Crossing, and Blyn Road to Old Blyn Hwy. She will also introduce the two projects in the wings: Longhouse Market Trail and East Michigan School Road. Wendy has worked for the Tribe for five years. She is committed to the longevity of the Peninsula Regional Transportation Planning Organization where she is a founding member. This is a public meeting and all are invited.
