The commission focuses on reviewing and updating federal policy to support rural prosperity in the 21st century by strengthening economic opportunity, resilience, and quality of life across rural America. As part of this work, the commission convenes in rural communities across the country to hear directly from residents and observe local conditions firsthand. At this field hearing, commission members will host a public panel of local leaders and experts working at the intersection of community and economic development on the Olympic Peninsula. Moderated by commission co-chairs Heitkamp and Sununu, the discussion will examine issues shaping rural prosperity in the region, including workforce development, and civic engagement and leadership. Members of the public are both welcome and encouraged to attend. A portion of the program will be reserved for audience Q&A.
