What I saw at Crater Lake is at risk -- deadline is August 14

Right now, the Department of the Interior is undergoing a sweeping “review” of the policies that help ensure nearly 200 million acres of public lands are safeguarded for future generations.
This review could open the door for industrial development and resource extraction, as well as other activities that threaten the wild character of these landscapes.
We have until August 14 to speak up for the wild places we love. Submit a comment today to defend America’s wilderness! <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=ABB7InYiOjEsImQiOjQ5NjB9AAcAAAAABPBbWSt

Dear John,
Last month, my family and I visited Crater Lake and Glacier national parks in Oregon and Montana. We were amazed by the sweeping views, countless opportunities to observe wildlife, and
access to trails where we could quickly immerse ourselves in the natural world. I was grateful that the National Park Service has managed more than 90 percent of both parks to protect
their wilderness, or natural, qualities.
But right now, the wild public lands that so many of us love are under threat: the quiet canyons, the roadless backcountry, national parks or monuments on your list to visit, or maybe
somewhere just a few miles away from where you live.
The Department of the Interior's "review" includes lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
These places sustain clean air and water, provide habitat for wildlife, are culturally and spiritually significant for Indigenous communities, and give all of us a place to disconnect
and breathe.
Wild places don't have a say. We're their voice -- and right now, that voice needs to be loud, and it needs to be heard before the clock runs out.
This review could open the door to industrial and commercial development, resource extraction, unsustainable motorized use, and even privatization of lands that have been safeguarded
for decades. All this impacts our ability to access these incredible places.
We don't have much time to fight back.
Submit your personal comment before August 14 to tell the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to keep our wilderness protections strong.

It only takes two minutes, and you can personalize your message to make it your own, whether it is a note about a trail you've hiked, a canyon you've paddled, or why wild places matter
to you. Personal comments carry real weight with decision-makers.
Thank you for standing up for the wilderness we all share,
