Daytime alternating traffic on US 101 at Calawah River Bridge in Forks Aug. 17-18
FORKS – Daytime travelers who use US 101 in Forks should plan additional travel time.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17 and Tuesday, Aug. 18, US 101 will be reduced to one lane approaching the Calawah River Bridge. The lane reduction creates a work zone for Washington
State Department of Transportation maintenance crews to make bridge repairs.
During the work, travelers can expect one-way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers and stops of up to 15 minutes.
About the work
Crews will repair the section of the bridge deck that connects to the paved road in the southbound lane at the north end of the bridge.
Nearby work later in the week
People who travel US 101 between Forks and Lake Crescent can also expect alternating traffic and 15-minute stops later in the week. From 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 and
Thursday, Aug. 20, US 101 will reduce to one lane at milepost 211 near Sol Duc River for a similar bridge repair.

* Slow down – drive the posted speeds for worker and traveler safety.
* Be kind – workers are out there helping to keep people safe and improve the roadways.
* Pay attention – both to workers directing travelers and surrounding traffic.
* Stay calm – expect delays, leave early or take alternate routes if possible.
