Millions of acres of America’s iconic wild landscapes are under threat. Right now, the Department of the Interior is undergoing a sweeping “review” of Wilderness management policies
that apply to nearly 200 million acres of public lands across National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, and lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Here in Washington state,
this review applies to 1.75 million acres of Wilderness across our three beloved national parks, and could have implications for countless other wild places across our state eligible
for Wilderness protection in the future.

Given this Administration’s obsession with the development and disposal of our public lands, it seems clear that this comment period is really just another ploy to weaken protections
for public land. This review could open the door for industrial development, resource extraction, unsustainable motorized vehicle use, privatization, and other activities that threaten
the wild character of these landscapes.

These places protect and sustain clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat, and Indigenous cultural and spiritual connections. Local communities rely on wild public lands for economic
benefits from tourism and recreation, and their quality of life. We must raise our voices in defense of the careful stewardship of our last remaining wild places, or risk losing them
forever.
