Dear Jefferson County Commissioners,
I’m reaching out to invite you to participate in a roundtable discussion on The Olympic Peninsula Maritime Economy on August 26 from 3:30–5:00 p.m. at the Northwest Maritime Museum in
Port Townsend.
The conversation will bring together ports, Tribes, educators, industry, workforce partners, and conservation organizations from across the Olympic Peninsula to highlight how collaboration
is strengthening our maritime economy, supporting Tribal stewardship, expanding workforce opportunities, and growing the blue economy.
The goal is to showcase how federal investments, partnerships, and policies can strengthen the maritime economy by supporting career pathways from K–12 education through workforce training
and industry. We hope to highlight the Olympic Peninsula as a model for integrating maritime education, workforce development, Tribal leadership, conservation, and economic growth,
while providing the Congresswoman with clear policy insights and opportunities to support the region’s maritime future.
The message we want to share is simple: When we invest in maritime education, workforce development, and coastal infrastructure, we create good-paying local jobs, strengthen rural and
Tribal communities, protect our marine environment, and ensure the Olympic Peninsula remains a leader in Washington’s maritime economy.
