STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Environmental Health is requesting BoCC approval of a Public Hearing Notice to take comments regarding the two Conservation Futures project applications submitted for consideration during the 2011 funding round. The notice is to be published on June 1 and June 15, 2011 in the Port Townsend & Jefferson County Leader. The Public Hearing is tentatively scheduled for June 27, 2011 at 10:15 a.m., immediately following a presentation by the Conservation Futures Citizen Oversight Committee Chair, Fred Weinmann. ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS: Jefferson County Code (JCC) 3.08.030(4) requires a duly noticed public hearing prior to final action by the Board of County Commissioners on the annual allocation of the conservation futures fund. Public comment on the Carleson Chimacum Creek Acquisition and Winona Basin - Bloedel projects will be accepted from the date of first publication until the close of the Commissioner's hearing. After the public hearing, the BOCC may resolve to award funding to these projects. The Conservation Futures Fund will provide funding for publication. June 27. 20 lJ at 10: 15 a. m. in the Commissioners' Chamber, County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, Port TO','illsend, WA 98368. The public hearing is to take comments for (or against) the two projects submitted for consideration during the 2011 Conservation Futures funding cycle. The acquisition projects are summarized as follows: I. Carleson Chimacum Creek Acquisition project, $25,800 towards the fee simple acquisition of 5 acres of vacant land on Creek View Lane off of Prospect Avenue and $750 towards operation and maintenance costs. Proposed match would be up to S146,200 in Salmon Recovery Funding Board grant funds through the W A Rccrcation and Conservation Office and $750 in cash from Jefferson Land Trust. Jefferson Land Trust is the sponsor. Project location: Scc. 34 SW 1/4, T. 30N, R. I W. 2. Winona Basin - Bloedel project, $42,1 00 towards the fee simple acquisition 01'7 lots (approximately I acre) of vacant land in the City of Port Townsend's Quimper Wildlife Corridor and $600 towards operation and maintenance costs. Proposed match would be $42,100 in donated land value from a nearby property acquired by the City in 2009 and $16,000 in cash from Jefferson Land Trust. The City is the proj ect applicant. Jefferson Land Trust is the sponsor. Project location: Sec. 33, T. 31 N, R. I W.
